Pegasus Legal Services for Children is a nonprofit agency that provides free civil legal services to children, youth, and their caregivers, including direct representation, community legal education, and systemic advocacy.

Systemic Advocacy

Pegasus works with policy makers to ensure that children’s needs and rights are taken into consideration in the development of state and local laws, policies and regulations.

Youth Law Project

The Pegasus Youth Law Project provides advocacy and legal services to youth who are homeless or have run away, need access to education, health or mental health care, and/or are transitioning from foster care to adulthood.

Education Law

Pegasus provides information online to families seeking to enforce their children’s right to a free and appropriate education, with a particular focus on the needs of children with disabilities. *Note: we can no longer provide legal representation or advice in this area*

Young Parents

Pegasus serves parents 25 years of age or younger in family law matters including custody, visitation, and child support.

Kinship Guardianship

Pegasus provides legal services to grandparents and other kinship caregivers taking care of children whose parents are unable or unwilling to provide them with proper care.

Child Abuse and Neglect

Pegasus works as Guardian ad Litems (GALs) – children’s attorneys who represent the best interests of the child – and youth attorneys for young people over age 14, in the 2nd Judicial District and the specialized ICWA court.
