As part of our lawsuit to fix the broken New Mexico foster care system, CYFD and HSD agreed to work with New Mexico Tribes and Pueblos to develop state law to protect Native children, their families and tribes. On March 3, 2022, the Governor signed the Indian Family Protection Act, landmark legislation that prioritizes keeping Native children with their families and tribes.
